Sales Boost Gillette Profits 6%

Profits at The Gillette Co. rose 6% in the fourth quarter, the company said Thursday, largely due to stronger blade and razor sales. Boston-based Gillette reported profits of $368 million, up 6% from a year ago. Income from continuing operations was $358 million, up 9%. Gillette reported record earnings for 2003, with net income up 14% to $1.39 billion.
